Typically, a Blog is the "shortened" and accepted term for a "web log". And, a web log is (and was) a written and published log of peoples thoughts, ideas, business plans, concepts, etc...
At first, you really needed to be a "geek" to publish a Blog online... but with the free programs that are available today, anybody that has internet access can have a blog, even if your only access is at the library? We chose to use the Word Press format, mainly because it is so Popular! People relate to the name! And when you see the Logo (below) you'll know what it is!
